While Peninsular Malaysia's lottery landscape is dominated by Magnum 4D, Sports Toto, and Damacai, East Malaysia has its own set of licensed operators that serve millions of players across Sabah and Sarawak. Sabah 88 is the largest and most well-known among them. This guide covers everything East Malaysian players need to know.
About Sabah 88
Sabah 88 Sdn Bhd is the primary licensed numbers forecast operator in the state of Sabah, East Malaysia. Established decades ago, it has become a household name in Sabah with outlets found in most towns and commercial centres across the state.
Beyond the standard 4D game, Sabah 88 also offers: Sabah Lotto 6/45 — choose 6 numbers from 1 to 45 for jackpot prizes, Sabah 3D — a three-digit variant, and Sabah 4D Jackpot — progressive jackpot game.
Draw Schedule
Sabah 88 follows the same draw schedule as Peninsular Malaysia operators:
Regular draws: Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday at 7:00 PM MYT
Special draws: Selected Tuesdays (approved by the Ministry of Finance)
2026 special draw dates: 7 April, 28 July, 1 September, 27 October, 29 December. See our special draw calendar.
Prize Structure
Sabah 88 uses the same standard prize structure as other Malaysian operators. Per RM1 bet:
Big (Besar): 1st Prize RM2,500 | 2nd Prize RM1,000 | 3rd Prize RM500 | Special RM200 (×10) | Consolation RM60 (×10)
Small (Kecil): 1st Prize RM3,500 | 2nd Prize RM2,000 | 3rd Prize RM1,000
This consistency means East Malaysian players enjoy the same potential payouts as their Peninsular counterparts. Visit our prize structure page for complete tables.

East vs West Malaysia: Key Differences
The lottery systems in East and West Malaysia are remarkably similar, but there are some practical differences worth noting:
Different operators, same rules: West Malaysia has Magnum, Toto, Damacai. East Malaysia has Sabah 88, Cash Sweep, STC. But the game format (4D), prize structure, and draw schedule are identical.
Regional availability: Sabah 88 outlets are primarily found in Sabah. Cash Sweep outlets are primarily in Sarawak. However, results from all operators are available nationwide online.
Cross-regional operators: Grand Dragon Lotto and Nine Lotto (9 Lotto 4D) operate across both East and West Malaysia, with daily draws available to all players regardless of location.
Taxes: All Malaysian lottery winnings are tax-free for individuals, whether the prize is from a West or East Malaysia operator.
Strategy for East Malaysia Players
East Malaysian players can maximise their draw participation by combining multiple operators. A practical weekly plan:
Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri: Play GD Lotto (daily draws) and 9 Lotto 4D
Wed/Sat/Sun: Play Sabah 88 + Cash Sweep + GD Lotto + 9 Lotto
This approach gives you draws on all 7 days of the week. Check our ramalan 4D page for number analysis and use the number checker to research your lucky numbers.
As always, set a budget and play responsibly. Lottery should be treated as entertainment, and the legal age for lottery purchases in Malaysia is 21.
